7. Keeping Stress In Check
There are a variety of endless triggers which can activate stress in life. So the key becomes to avoid them as much as possible, and once faced with stress, learning to handle it efficiently. So instead of allowing turmoil to affect your health, learn to manage it better.
What excess stress has proven is it causes the aging of the skin at the cellular level, which leads to the breakdown of collagen, damages DNA, while promoting the release of pro-inflammatory factors which accelerates the aging process.
6. Avoid Smoking And Alcohol
When young, most consider these vices as a gateway towards adulthood. But what’s found, hopefully sooner than later, is that drinking excess alcohol damages the skin along with the major organs. What too much alcohol does is increases aging because it depletes the stores of vitamin A in the body, which is an antioxidant that produces collagen.
Smoking is another bad idea, an addictive habit which leads to premature aging at an extremely early age. Not only does smoking tobacco lead to accelerated aging of the skin, it’s also linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, and infertility, just to name a few.
5. Routine Morning Exercise
The key is to stay active by making sure that exercise is a part of your daily routine, which plays a vital role in aging well. Most however don’t have the time to go to the gym let alone planning an extensive exercise routine, so just a brisk walk in the morning can be an excellent option. Walking is the quickest, most affordable and effective form of exercise for all ages.
All that’s needed is a low-volume exercise training program, such as a 30 minute walk, which reduces oxidative stress while activating neutrophils in older adults. So make it a priority to walk in the morning, preferably outdoors. What this provides is connecting with nature while giving your skin a healthy glow.
4. Follow A Strict Diet
What proper nutrition does is plays a key role in how your body ages and the skin looks. To age gracefully, what’s found is that following proven diets such as the Mediterranean diet is beneficial. What this renown diet emphasizes is consuming primarily plant-based foods, fruits and vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and nuts.
What it also involves is moderate drinking of red wine. fish at least 2 times a week, while fatty red meat is discouraged. The fat that’s consumed is always unsaturated, and derived naturally from olive oil and nuts.
