How would you define the state of your mental wellness right now. Are you starting to show a few cracks, some deficiencies. Once we reach a certain age in our lives, we reach a peak, which is in our 30’s, we then begin to decline.
It’s around that age that our lives begin to stop growing as we’re deemed full grown adults. So those days that we woke up to a life full of vigor with ability to move forward, may of seen their brightest days. But you can get a better handle on your life, one which enhances its quality as we age forward.
Research, education, soul searching, and definition is what should come into focus, this along with incorporating better self wellness habits on a daily basis. Know that wellness is unique to different people, as it encompasses aspects of our lives while needing commitment and determination to bring change to oneself.
This change is needed to bring harmony and balance, deciding to make wellness a choice, as what it requires is a conscious effort of you doing something daily to honor your life and spirit.
Achieving wellness requires directing your life to where you want it to go, which means controlling every area of your life including your career, finances, relationships, environment, health, and emotional well-being.
What Is Wellness
The definition of wellness is: Being in a state of optimal well-being, an improved quality of life which results in enhanced physical, spiritual, and mental ability.
Most will go into denial mode when it comes to how well they really are. Then we’ll use comfort as a coping strategy to avoid any potential issues such as certain medical issues which may be creeping in.
We’ll continue to avoid the minor nagging issues until they develop into a full blown crisis, and at times that’s when it triggers action. The areas of our lives which are dark, are the areas which needs to be honored.
Incorporating Wellness
Most don’t bother to incorporate wellness into their lives, this because they’re either too busy, or have no desire to do so. Realize it’s not your physical being which is affected by wellness, as stress also prevents many from taking control of their destiny.
Knowing how you spend your time and then adjusting your priorities to incorporate the activities which are important to your health and wellness, will reduce this stress.
So you need to reevaluate your priorities and place them in order of importance to become successful. Instead of working 12 hours a day, choose to work 8 hours and then spend the rest of the time honoring your well-being.
Trying To Cheat Time
According to time management experts, we constantly make excuses and often mismanage the time that we actually have. It’s estimated the average individual has around 40 hours per week of free time, where 20 hours of it is spent on watching TV or surfing the Internet, leaving little time for other activity.
This spare time should be prioritized better as wellness is important. As we grow older, what that does is it brings forward a whole new host of physical, metabolic, mental, and emotional challenges we need to be aware of.
As we grow older, we should be reserving that time for relaxation, retirement, and enjoying life. Reserve that time to embark on new exciting adventures such as travel.
Creating A Life That Honors Wellness
Be Completely Honest With Yourself
Begin by honestly looking at all areas of your life, then identify where it needs improving. Make and set new goals to achieving the desired results while tracking your activity.
The Willingness To Change
Identify and write down all your wellness goals, and your willingness to make these changes. Keep in mind that any move, backwards or forward, is a necessary and expected part of the process of change.
Identifying And Eliminating Challenges
There’s always barriers and roadblocks which we need to overcome as we move towards our goals. Choose one at a time. Every negative message that you encounter, learn to replace them with positive ones, this as an exercise of establishing new habits. All it takes is time and practice.
Clearly Define Your Wellness Goals
Create new ways of fulfilling your goals. Break them down into smaller incremental steps. Create meaningful wellness priorities by taking a closer look at how you spend your average day. Record what you do daily. Find different opportunities for new wellness activities which you may not have known previously existed, and then incorporate them into your life.
Challenge Your Wellness Changes
Initially make simple changes and then begin looking for changes which may be more difficult, the ones which will need the most to achieve your desired results. Then begin tackling them one at a time.
Design And Refine Your Goals
If you’re not getting the results that you’re wanting in a reasonable amount of time, then go back to reassess. Refine and redesign your goals so they fit and works best for you. You may even seek help from others if needed.
Making New Lasting Changes
Identify and then celebrate all of your accomplishments and then make sure that you reward yourself. Constantly review all of your favorite activities that you like to do, while trying out new activities so you can renew your motivation.
With the pace of the world being so quick, what we all want is immediate and instant everything. If we don’t get it right away, then we’ll just usually give up and quit.
However, the actions that we take which extends the wellness principles in our lives, are well worth the effort and the work, this by taking care of ourselves first.
